There was a news story on snapchat when president Trump was elected and what it said was, though the election is over us democrats could protest and stay strong and rise up in order to not let bills pass and affect the government. Just like any other movement in the past just look at, the women's movement, the blacks movement, the lgbt movement, all protested in order to change their own lives and succeeded. This idea was that, though something had changed in the government we still had power. People stood up for themselves they protested and continue to protest for what they believe in, whether it's that transgenders should be able to go the bathroom that identifies with their gender or that we should handle deportation in a different way that Trump doesn't agree with. But we aren't the only ones standing for what we believe. White Supremacists or nationalists border line fascists are protesting what makes America such a great country, our diversity. If you are confused about the timeline of these marches i'll tell you

  1. White Supremacists show up at the UVA rotunda 12 hours before the rally should start on August 12

  2. They surround an anti protest movement and proceed to beat them with sticks and spray them with tear gas.

  3. Arrive with torches and chants

  4. Police end the protest with violence

  5. White Supremacists arrived at Lee Park

  6. Rally started at around 10 rather than 12

  7. The Klu Klux Klan arrived as well as Antifa people who stand with the congregation and Nazis

  8. They chanted the Nazi chant “Blood and Soil” as well as “Fuck you Faggots” and “White Lives matter

  9. People showed up with guns and mace

  10. Anti protestors were beaten and sprayed with mace by the supremacists and the police did not do anything other than stand there for a good 3 hours

  11. Later police stopped the rally saying it was unconstitutional

  12. At around 1:50 pm on August 12th anti protesters are hit by a car

  13. At least 1 dead

  14. 19 injured

  15. Medics arrived

What does this event teach us? That Trump inspires these movements. What I feel is that these groups of people finally feel like they can rise up and say what they believe in because they feel that somehow Trump agrees with or is not against their ideals and Trump did not put them down after the event took place because he knows that these people stand with him inspiring future events. It also shows us how we should have more gun control, the fact that people went to the street with guns threatening people with families should show how our country is too lenient. The third thing it teaches us is that we still live in a world/nation that has racism and sexism in every form. Did we learn nothing from the nazis and what happens when you treat a whole ethnic group like crap leading them to almost extinction? We must all learn from this event.

But there's good things to, it shows how much of a minority this group of supremacists are, what i mean is that these people came from all of America for this rally and there were several hundreds which when you look at it abstractly for all of the nation that is not much. It also shows how much faith we have in american people. Men and Women of all ages protested against these white supremacists that were roaming the street, they did not leave when a fight broke out, they continued to support what they believe in and showed incredible bravery. I am so grateful for the people that stood for what they believed in and fought for the right of the ethnically diverse american people when they were the minority in this rally.

We must continue to express our opinions in this political climate to change others opinions which we may consider wrong. But we must also remember that not everyone's opinions can change.

Just remember:

Learn, Stand, and Fight for What's Right.
